Quito Trips Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

This policy explains what personal data Quito Trips collects through quitotrips.com, why we use it, who helps us process it and what rights you have. We keep it short and in plain language.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Quito Trips, a local tour operator based in Quito, Pichincha, Ecuador. Legal name and tax ID: [LEGAL NAME / RUC: pending from Simon].

Email: info@quitotrips.com · Phone and WhatsApp: +593 97 924 5538

2. What data we collect

When you ask for a quote (trip planning form or quick quote), we receive what you type in:

  • Your name and email, and your WhatsApp number if you choose to give it.
  • Your trip details: month and number of days, number of adults and children (with children's ages if you add them), budget, preferred accommodation, country of residence, how you found us and any notes you write.

Along with the form, the site sends a few technical details so we know how you reached us: the first page you visited, the referring website, campaign tags (utm) and the Google Ads click ID (gclid) if there is one. These are kept in your browser only for the current visit (session storage) and are not used to identify you elsewhere.

When you chat or write to us by live chat, email or WhatsApp, we receive the messages and contact details you share there.

When you browse the site, Google Analytics collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser (see section 6).

We do not ask for payment card details on this website.

3. Why we use it

  • To answer your inquiry and stay in touch about your trip.
  • To design your itinerary and prepare a quote.
  • To manage your booking: reservations with hotels, guides and transport, payments, invoices and support during the trip.
  • To understand which pages and campaigns work, using aggregated statistics, so we can improve the site.

We do not sell your data, and we do not send newsletters or marketing emails. We only write to you about the trip you asked about.

4. Legal basis

We follow Ecuador's Organic Law on Personal Data Protection (Ley Orgánica de Protección de Datos Personales, 2021). For travelers in the European Union and elsewhere, we also apply the principles of the GDPR. We process your data:

  • To take steps you request before a contract and to perform it: your quote and your booking.
  • To meet legal obligations: accounting and tax records in Ecuador.
  • On the basis of our legitimate interest: basic website statistics and security.
  • With your consent: when you choose to contact us by chat or WhatsApp, or share optional details.

5. Who processes your data for us

We use a small number of service providers. They only process data to provide their service to us:

  • Web3Forms: receives the quote form and forwards it to our email.
  • Zoho Mail: hosts our mailbox, info@quitotrips.com.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google): website statistics. It only runs on quitotrips.com and loads after the page has finished loading.
  • tawk.to: the live chat on the site.
  • Cloudflare: hosting and content delivery for the website; it handles technical data such as your IP address to deliver pages securely.
  • WhatsApp (Meta): only if you choose to message us there.
  • Local suppliers (hotels, guides, transport, Galapagos operators): only once you book, and only the data they need, such as names and ages of travelers.

The site's fonts are served from our own server, so loading a page does not send your data to Google Fonts.

6. Cookies

We use only a few cookies, and none of them are for advertising on this site:

  • Google Analytics (_ga and related cookies): count visits and measure how the site is used.
  • tawk.to: keep your chat session open while you browse. The chat loads when you first scroll or tap, or after a few seconds.

The site does not currently show a cookie banner. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site still works without them.

7. International transfers

Some of our providers store data outside Ecuador, mainly in the United States and the European Union (for example Google, Cloudflare, Zoho, tawk.to and WhatsApp). We choose providers that offer recognized safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your data.

8. How long we keep it

[Proposal for Simon to confirm]

  • Inquiries that do not become a booking: 24 months, then deleted.
  • Bookings: as long as Ecuador's accounting and tax laws require us to keep the records.

9. Children

Our services are booked by adults. We only ask for children's ages to calculate prices and suitable activities, and we use them for nothing else.

10. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • access the data we hold about you;
  • correct it if it is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • object to or limit how we use it;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent.

Write to info@quitotrips.com. We will answer within 15 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to Ecuador's Superintendencia de Protección de Datos Personales or to the data protection authority in your country.

California residents (CCPA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect and to ask us to delete it, and you will not be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

11. Security

The site runs entirely over HTTPS, and access to our email and chat accounts is restricted to our team. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data and limit who can see it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with a new update date.

13. Contact
